This latest piece is far larger in reality, but I did what I could for online presentation. There was a decent amount of planning involved in this one and I had a grand scale in mind the entire way. I wanted to take that rare step outside 11X17 (or 11X14), but was fixated on doing that with zero doubt that it was the best effort and product possible within my current ability.
The actual content of the piece spins out the character I designed for my last post, "The Apparition". I thought I was pretty clever with that name. I desired to make this character embody a bit of the pulp spirit, incorporate some western, detective, & ghostly elements, and it seemed to have a nice ring to it. It turns out there's some obscure DC Comics character called simply "Apparition". I could just roll with it and always precede the name with "The", but upon further thought it's actually pretty clunky and I'm sure there's a better name I've yet to come up with...
But anyhow, here's "The J-Nel Apparition Montage" in its most compact form as well the raw scans, a photo of the inks, and the very early pencils (at least half of those worked out)...

I call this one "In Her Dreams" and I actually finished it way back in March, but hadn't shrunk it down to scan until just recently. It's okay, not my best work, but I always need the practice drawing girls...
Here's a scan of the inks & tones...

And a quick color version...

Now, this one succeeds where that last one fails. I was trying to put a bit of cuteness out there, but it didn't have nearly the life of this one here. And this one's just a headshot...
Here's a scan of the inks & tones...

And a pretty good color job by myself...

The rest of this entry is just decent sketchbook pieces, odds & ends... Enjoy!
